Since its release in 1970, the Minimoog Model D has been in a category of its own. As the world’s first analog keyboard synth made for portability and immediate playability, it cemented the synthesizer as a go-to creative tool for musicians and brought the Moog sound to the masses. Of course, none of this would be possible without Bob Moog himself.
The Bob Moog Tribute Edition Minimoog Model D celebrates the technology and imagination of early electronic musical instrument design. Preserving the Minimoog Model D’s iconic sound and soul, this limited-edition release features 100% analog circuitry, modern functional updates from the instrument’s 2022 re-release, a custom quartersawn oak wood enclosure, a unique back-panel decal, and an included SR Series travel case.
Each Bob Moog Tribute Edition Minimoog Model D synthesizer is assembled by hand in Moog’s North Carolina production facility. This edition representsthe final planned production run of this storied instrument, and only 500 units will be made available to purchase. To honor Bob Moog’s legacy and continue to support the future of synth education and innovation, $500 from each instrument sold will be donated to the Bob Moog Foundation.
This reissue features the identical sound engine and signal path of the 1970s Minimoog Model D plus a series of popular modifications including:
- MIDI integration
- Dedicated analog LFO with triangle and square waveshapes
- Premium Fatar keybed with velocity and aftertouch available via top panel CV jacks with onboard trimpots
- Mixer feedback modification which allows the Minimoog Model D to overdrive and scream with the turn of a knob
- A spring-loaded pitch wheel with center
deadband - Classic metal reverse screen printed Minimoog badges on front and rear
- Custom Bob Moog Foundation sticker on rear panel
- Hand-built by the Moog Music team in North Carolina
- Included semi-rigid case designed specially for the Minimoog Model D
