Universal Audio are the undisputed dons of all things hardware and software and we’ve been big fans of theirs since we started getting into music production. They’ve got a ridiculous pedigree, having been founded by Bill Putnam way back in 1958. This guy was responsible for engineering the likes of Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole and loads of other legends. Basically, he was one of the founding fathers of modern audio recording and a pioneer of hardware like almost no other, having invented the multi-band equalizer, the modern recording console and the vocal booth. If that wasn’t enough, he was also the first guy to use artificial reverb on a recording so, that’s a pretty big deal….
Anyway, back to UA. Bill Putnam’s sons re-founded the company in 1999 with the agenda of faithfully manufacturing classic, analogue recording equipment in the tradition of their father and developing new, digital recording tools with the sound and spirit of their analogue kit. If you want to find out more check it here.
We are extremely proud to announce that in the very near future we will have ALL of the UA hardware on display at our store at 35 Howard Street. We are seriously hyped because this kit is ridiculously good.
Check it…
That’s the LA-2A. It’s heavy. It’s a mono compressor/limiter that will add serious analogue warmth to your mixes. Anyone serious about recording needs one.
It’s only one of the toys that are in the post for our demo rack. Check the rest of the gear out on our site here.
Keep your eyes peeled on the FB and Twitter for an update on when the kit lands in store. Oh, and feel free to give us a buzz on 0141 221 9657 or email aleks@rubadub.co.uk for more information on all of the UA range.
Oh, and we didn’t even mention the UA Apollo. It gets our ears excited.
