SWEN2 is based on the same analog design as the swENIGISER and the Proto VCF/A filter euro module. We’ve added a MCU to handle everything digital, such as a second oscillator, midi, clock syncable LFO2, tuning/calibration, generative sequencer with quantizer.

We added things we thought were missing to enable a much richer and more creative playground than the original could ever offer. While the original design from 1996 still holds its ground, the SWEN2 is a child of 2026.

Deep Dive Into the Engine:

1. The Oscillators & Sound Sources

• VCO (Analog Oscillator): Features six selectable waves (Sine, Triangle, Square, PWM Pulse, PWM Saw, and Off) with dedicated octave selection and fine/coarse tuning toggles.
• Ghost OSC2: Always follows your VCO pitch with a slight, reactive analog delay that instantly fattens up your signal like a lush chorus. Can be detuned +-1 octave or switched to an EQ-able White Noise source.
• Dual Sub Oscillators: Add massive low-end "oumph" with a dedicated Sub-Sine routed straight to the VCA, or switch on the Roland SH-101-style -1 Octave Square Sub.

2. The 12-Mode Proto Multimode Filter

Based on an ultra-rare prototype lent by Anthony Linell (Northern Electronics), this filter utilizes 4x 6dB cells in series. Dial in everything from classic lowpass tracking to self-oscillating resonance. Want magic? Set the resonance high and "ping" the filter with brief audio pulses. Mix your dry and wet signals perfectly via the crossfader-style VCO/VCF Mix.

3. The Proto Amplifier (VCA) with Clip Drive

Experience improved signal-to-noise ratio by 6dB alongside adjustable positive or negative CV offset—perfect for dialing in continuous drone pads or truncating envelopes into sharp, plucky micro-sounds. Flip the integrated CLIP switch to engage dual diodes for gritty, asymmetric saturation and aggressive overdrive.

4. GSEQ: The Generative Brain

The GSEQ is an intuitive, endlessly inspiring 4-pattern by 2 to 16-step generative sequencer. Simply hold the GEN button to watch new melodies randomly generated on the fly.

• Quantize instantly to 6 scale modes (including Octaves, Pentatonic, and MIDI Note Input).
• Control note probability, note range (up to 5 octaves), and step playback length.
• Randomly weighted accents, slides, and advanced directional playback modes (Forward, Reverse, Ping-Pong, Random) keep your patterns alive and shifting.

Advanced Eurorack Patchbay & Connectivity

No gate converters needed. The SWEN2 comes equipped with a comprehensive 28-point patchbay on the front panel to natively integrate with your modular system or external gear:

• Audio I/O: Dedicated Headphone Out (Dual Mono), Eurorack Level Audio Out, and External Audio Input.
• CV Inputs: 4 general CV inputs routed to mod source selectors + linear FM, pulse/saw shape width, LFO 2 frequency, and dedicated VCF cutoff control.
• GSEQ: Clock in/out and CV+Trig out
• Audio Outputs: Independent waveform outputs for Sine, Triangle, Pulse, Saw, and OSC2 to modulate external gear at audio-rate.
• CV Outputs: LFO1, LFO2, Envelope 1,2,3 ready as external or internal modulation sources
• Rear Panel: Full 5-pin DIN MIDI Input, 6.3mm Audio Output, USB-C for both midi and power and a dedicated DC Input for increased redundancy.
