Immortal Replicator's album is a pristine and compelling entry into the distinct genre pioneered by Richard D James and Rephlex records, a genre that spans a wide range of bpm, is simultaneously pastoral and eerie, sentimental and unrelenting, its own world that, like Borges' Library of Babel, is ever expanding and elusive. The patient propulsive beats and smudgy melodies are melancholic yet magisterial, a kind of inspirational hauntology, as if all the lost futures could still be found. This is music to drive to, to run to, to read to, music that would play well at sunrise regardless of whether one is up for noble or depraved reasons.
