Echo in the Dark is an eight-track album by Hanna Tuulikki and Tommy Perman, created from bat echolocation calls, layered voice and electronics. Each track draws on a different bat species, translating ultrasonic signals into a meeting point between ecological listening, experimental composition and the dancefloor.
Pressed on black Plastchem Bio-Vinyl, the record is housed in a black FSC-certified sleeve with a laser-cut bat silhouette. Each of the 300 copies includes an individually hand-printed Riso insert visible through the front cut-out. The inserts vary in colour and design and are selected at random, making every finished sleeve unique. The record also features custom pink A-side and blue B-side centre labels.
Electronic Sound selected Echo in the Dark as Album of the Month in issue 140, describing the record as “compelling and immersive” and writing that “almost everything on Echo in the Dark is near-perfect
