Takeo.K is a multi-disciplinary artist originally from Japan and now based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia.
Their catalogue spans releases on labels such as Midnight Elevator, Backtrack, Theory Therapy and Second Ends Records, with tracks appearing in sets by pi pi pi boss Deep Creep and NTS resident Ian Kim Judd. Moving fluidly between shoegaze, trip-hop, breakbeat and deconstructed club forms, Takeo.K draws on a wide palette of influences – from Muslimgauze’s rhythmic minimalism to the atmospheric weight of Bark Psychosis.
Takeo.K now returns to Theory Therapy with “Home Is Everywhere and Nowhere at Once”, a full-length limited edition CD out 16 January. Drifting between states of memory, distance and displacement, the album is an introspective, quietly expansive meditation on movement and identity.
The CD is designed by London-based artist Lucas Dupuy.
