Imploded Versions

Imploded Versions is a full-spectrum immersion into low-end revelation… heavy bass that envelops, seduces, submerges, and ultimately crushes. On this collaborative release, The Bug and Ghost Dubs fuse their sonic arsenals to carve out a new strain of dub. It’s darkly hypnotic, punishingly physical, and utterly addictive for zonal headz and Babylon seekers alike. Across the release, each artist contributes their own heavyweight centrepiece. The Bug with “Militants” and Ghost Dubs with “Into the Mystic”. Each cut is presented in three escalating versions, with every iteration tunnelling further into the abyss; it gets deeper, heavier, more hallucinatory. The result is an irresistible progression of groove and dread, where sound system pressure meets spectral atmosphere, and dub itself is pushed into uncharted territory."

“For me, the three mixes of ‘Militants’ are intended as a tribute to the legendary Jah Shaka (RIP) and his epic, earth-moving sessions at The Rocket in Holloway Road, which were partly responsible for my present roots reggae and bass addiction. I wanted to aim forward into the unknown with a new form of steppas tune here, one that captured the future-shock energy Jamaican music at its best always hit me with. For me, this is a new form of spectral dub… immersive and implosive, in my twisted image.”

Imploded Versions 12” is limited to 500 copies, housed in hand-stamped brown Kraft card sleeves, and mastered/cut by Stefan Betke (a.k.a. POLE) at Scape Mastering studio.
