Russell Haswell veritably reignites Skam’s Kasm sublabel with its first release in a decade full of rowdy, shattered, and incinerated electronics. Bullets of seething synthesis trade jabs with punching percussion throughout the fierce and moody palette of Kasm03, defined by raw, jagged timbres, frayed at the edges and enacting abstract rhythmic carnage. Tyres skid across ‘indirect reciprocity’, activating towards the end with chainsaw revving force, while ‘implicit vulnerability’ is a dangerous, visceral game of laser tag with splattered cymbals. ‘conclusion’ combines all sounds into a fitting end of uncontrollable, whistling, shredding noise.
