Pioneering minimal techno institution Milles Plateaux reissues Porter Ricks’ Same, originally available on CD way back in 1997. A collaboration between ambient aficionado Thomas Köner and Andy Mellweg, Porter Ricks released a spate of records during this period, including a few on the legendary dub techno stable Chain Reaction. Like the label’s output, Same touches on aquatic dub techno and occasional beatless trips, with moods shifting along from wide-eyed psychedelia to darkly sinister dirge. They have a penchant for throwing some surprises in the mix too, with the crushed disco looping of ‘Spoil’ and the saturated stadium-bop of closer ‘Exposed’.
