A collaboration between South African producer King Maceeyar and Okzharp who is UK based and has released on Hyperdub & Keysound Recordings
"The relationship between King Maceeyar & Okzharp took shape via one of the WhatsApp groups where young S African Gqom producers share their tunes. Via Okzharp, this was the original catalyst for the track 'Our Memories' being included on MAL's 'Pressure II' comp, but mid last year King sent Okzharp some demos which formed the foundations of this collaboration.
The project files were actually lost when King's laptop died but the limitations of working with the surviving MP3's ended up sparking some interesting results!
This tape is a collage of those tracks mixed with field recordings from some of King's hangouts, along with snippets from an interview done over voice notes
Some of these tracks have a very recognisable Gqom palette in the percussion, but King has quite a distinct musical fingerprint and it quite often creates a melodic mix that's melancholy, yet strangely epic at the same time"
