We're pleased to announce that Rubadub has been selected to receive a paving stone from Glasgow City Council, recognising our contribution to the city's grassroots music scene as part of Glasgow's UNESCO City of Music status.

At a civic event last month, we were notified alongside Subclub, Soma Records, and SWG3 as the first recipients of this honour. The paving stones project follows a motion by councillor Christy Mearns calling for greater support for grassroots music venues, including developing a music trail and protecting the spaces that make Glasgow's music scene what it is. It's a privilege to be celebrated alongside these institutions that have helped shape the sound of the city.

For over 32 years, Rubadub has grown to be a place where music fans of all kinds come together to discover, create, and share. From our roots in underground electronic music to stocking music production gear, it's always been about the community and the music itself.

We're grateful for this recognition and excited to see what the future holds for music in Glasgow - not just for us, but for the entire network that make Glasgow's music scene what it is. Our friends at Monorail, Palais De Danse, Mixed Up, Good Press, Signal Sounds, GuitarGuitar… Our Syrian pals at Lazord right next door. Clubs/venues and studios like EXIT, Old Hairdressers, La Cheetah, La Chunky, and The Flying Duck. It's all connected - one big soup!

Glasgow is a UNESCO City of Music because of spaces like these and the people who support them - venues, shops, labels and musicians that have created iconic scenes, nurtured talent, and given audiences a world-famous reputation.

We're proud to be part of that legacy and committed to continuing to do our part.
